The redesign and enhancement of Via Brunenghi aim to address deficiencies in planning, service, and space management, as the current state of conservation further contributes to reduced accessibility and usability. The most significant intervention for the community is the introduction of a cycling path, located on the uphill side. This design choice stems from a contextual analysis, which revealed a dense network of streets on the left side of Via Brunenghi, creating potential hazards for cyclists, while the right side allows for a more continuous route with fewer interruptions and intersections with less trafficked streets, given the predominance of private roads.
The cycling path is accompanied by a service strip along the roadside, separating it from parking areas to prevent conflicts between users of the two spaces. Green areas have been redesigned to improve functionality and achieve visual consistency along the entire street axis. This includes a careful selection of tree species that respect the surrounding context while avoiding interference with the new pavement and road surface.
Urban furniture plays a key role in both containing the green system and creating harmony with the surroundings without compromising functionality. Supporting these choices, the new lighting system—developed through a detailed photometric analysis of the entire street—provides an adequate solution that addresses all other design aspects, from visual comfort and perceived safety for users to overall urban decor.
