The project interventions focused on the construction of a facility for early childhood socio-educational services at the Villaggio Azzurro, owned by the Italian Air Force. The executive design aimed to harmoniously integrate indoor and outdoor spaces, always placing children’s well-being at the center, creating spaces that are accessible, functional, and tailored to the activities to be carried out, promoting healthy growth and overall wellness.
The outdoor area is designed as a place for meeting, interaction, integration, and play. The building, conceived with a regular, clear, and rational form, features a central distribution element that constantly connects the classrooms with the functional spaces and services of the facility. Classrooms are characterized by large windows, making the building visually permeable to the outside, supported by a continuity of materials and colors.
Natural light is a defining feature of the structure, fully utilized thanks to the north-south orientation of the lot, ensuring excellent daylighting for the educational areas. This orientation also enhances the efficiency of renewable energy systems, including photovoltaic panels and solar thermal systems, which serve all building utilities and meet the full energy demand at peak operation.
