The Masai Mara Conservation Centre project draws inspiration from the traditional Maasai hierarchical spatial organization, arranging spaces in a gradual transition from public to private. This structure defines the functional layout of the center, creating a central courtyard optimized for thermal comfort and enhancing the open experience for visitors.
The building’s form, designed in relation to existing trees, contributes to seasonal shading, responding to solar variations between summer and winter. To reduce costs and environmental impact, local materials such as wood, bamboo, and compressed earth bricks—produced on-site by the community—were selected. The project integrates exhibition pathways with Virtual Reality and immersive installations to raise awareness of biodiversity and territorial conservation.
The entrance deck replaces the existing gate, offering a panoramic view of the park, while the center also includes a café, a relaxation area, and a themed shop to enrich the visitor experience.
