Completed in 2021, the project involved the reconfiguration of the equipment room of the Control Tower at Milan Linate Airport, including the creation of a new CED room and a control room. The intervention included the design and installation of advanced mechanical systems, such as precision air conditioners with direct expansion cooling.
The system ensures cooling and heating of the room by supplying conditioned air through the raised floor, cooling the racks via grilles positioned near the data cabinets. In addition to the new air-conditioning system, the project included the modification and connection of hydronic piping to supply the existing terminals on the lower floor.
This was achieved by cutting the existing pipes and creating a new connection using multilayer piping between the second floor and the ground floor. The work was designed with a detailed feasibility study, including sizing calculations and an economic analysis, to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the intervention.
