The project involved the development of a sustainable residential settlement on a natural terrace at Plan Revel, in an area characterized by strong landscape qualities. The urban layout was shaped according to the site’s topography, with buildings oriented to maximize passive solar gain and soil permeability. An underground road network reduced surface impact and facilitated integration with the pedestrian and cycling system.
The units are served by low-inertia radiant floors connected to centralized district heating, with room thermostats for thermal load management. Solar thermal systems for domestic hot water and roof-integrated photovoltaic panels for common energy use were installed. All units feature high-efficiency mechanical ventilation systems with earth-to-air heat exchangers for thermal recovery.
The materials used include microporous brick masonry, natural insulation in wood fiber and cork, and ventilated wooden roofs with slate coverings. The urban design provided continuous, permeable, and accessible public spaces, in harmony with the Alpine landscape and existing vegetation.
