The project involved the demolition and reconstruction of the “A. Brofferio” lower secondary school in Cafasse, which had been rendered unusable by an exceptional weather event. The new building, integrated into the local context, enhances spatial functionality and user comfort through sustainable solutions.
A 65 kW photovoltaic system with 120 kWh storage powers heat pumps, primary ventilation, security systems, video surveillance, and lighting. The rainwater collection system allows for reuse in irrigation and sanitary facilities, reducing water consumption. LED outdoor lighting ensures safety and efficiency along pedestrian paths.
To control solar exposure, the southeast and southwest façades are equipped with adjustable sunshades, while north-facing windows maximize natural light. Eco-friendly materials and durable finishes improve indoor environmental quality, with resistant cladding, low-VOC paints, and acoustic panels.
Common areas, designed to promote interaction and collaborative learning, combine movable furniture in gathering spaces with solutions optimized for managing natural light in classrooms. The intervention adhered to minimum environmental standards, ensuring energy efficiency, accessibility, and safety.
